I just love Eckhart Tolle. He always agrees with me. Eckhart speaks about not putting anything between you and me. No technique, no thought. Listening to his talk he opened with “I trust that nobody is waiting for me to start, because everybody here knows we‘re here to give up waiting as a state of mind.” I totally agree. For years I have been saying the same thing. It always feels so gratifying when you hear something validated like that, especially by someone you admire and respect. Of course he goes on to discuss the state of no mind, etc. I won’t be doing that. We will stick to the acting thing. When I walk into my studio full of actors they are often just waiting to begin. I hear some actors comment they don’t like waiting around on sets. I have never been bored. Being on a set is like going to Disneyland. I remember going to Disneyland years ago. Having fun in line was frowned upon by the other tourists waiting to have fun to go on the ride. That really is a rip off. The wait time is hours and the ride lasts for a minute. Backwards I feel. Have fun now as it won’t last forever. You know, it seems very clear to me that we are not getting out of here alive (at least not in our bodies). I am a big fan of having fun. I guess that is why I am an actor. We get paid to have fun. We play, we dress up, hired to do silly things, rarely serious, although I am a serious artist, seriously. A great career all around I must say. All the world’s a stage and there is no waiting for the curtain to go up.
